The Halogen Cooker is a recent innovation in the cooking industry that is gaining immense popularity amongst those looking for cheap and effective cooking solution. Many are touting halogen ovens as a cheap and compact replacement to the traditional kitchen oven.
A Halogen oven is an odd looking appliance, consisting in essence of a glass container that is plugged into the wall. Originally a gimmicky item sold on TV shopping networks, it has well and truly crossed into the mainstream.
If you have any familiarity halogen lights, you will be well aware of how much heat this technology can produce. Halogen cookers take halogen heating elements and transfer electricity into extreme heat, which is then used for cooking the contents of the glass oven.
Usually the oven will be equipped with a fan to help circulate the intense heat around the food that is cooking. This results in the food being cooked very rapidly, and eliminates the need to rotate or turn food – as the heat is distributed evenly.

Many people report that food cooked in one of these devices can be ready in as little as a third of the time as food prepared in a traditional oven. While compact, the nature of the device allows for a lot of food to be cramped into the ‘halogen fish bowl’.
Due to the halogen oven essentially being a glass bowl, it is very easy to check on the status of your cooking. There is no need to open a door to view the contents; you can see how the food is faring just by looking at the oven.
With all these great features you might expect a halogen oven to cost a fortune. However, that is not the case. One of these great appliances will cost a mere fraction of a traditional built-in oven. It’s small size – while sufficient to allow cooking of a substantial amount of food – means it can be stored easily on a countertop.
For those willing to live without an expensive wall oven, a Halogen oven can be a viable – and frugal – alternative.
It is not often a new kitchen gadget lives up to all the hype. The Halogen cooker may just be one of the few that does!

Have had one of these since jan. 2009, the elctrics have just failed on it, miss it terribly, found it ideal for cooking everything for one person alone, finding it difficult to get a replacement lid at the moment.
